TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–Tonight National Night Out was held at Cadwalader Park, an annual campaign that promotes police-community partnerships. The event returns to the City of Trenton tonight after the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic and featured a showing of Trenton-native Athing Mu’s gold medal winning performance in the 800 meters early this morning at the Tokyo Olympics, along with free food, music, youth activities, and a bike raffle.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie by bringing police and residents together under positive circumstances.
Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, typically on the first Tuesday in August. Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much, much more.

ROBBINSVILLE, NJ (MERCER)–National Night Out 2021 was held tonight at Robbinsville Police Headquarters. Activities included a K-9 Demonstration; Robbinsville Township Fire Department vehicle extrication demonstration; DJ; Bounce Houses; Hot Dogs; Shirley Temple Bar; Cotton Candy; Popcorn; Snow Cones; and much more. It was a great opportunity for the community to come together and meet Robbinsville’s officers and built community partnerships.

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NJ (ATLANTIC)–Family members gathered at the 177th Fighter Wing based at the Atlantic City International Airport to welcome home the National Guard Members who have been deployed for over four months. A few days earlier on July 31, 2021 members of the 119th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron returned home from a deployment of over four months.
Family members held ‘welcome home’ signs and awaited the return of 177th Fighter Wing members from their deployment, The Airmen were deployed for more than four months to the Middle East in support of U.S. CENTCOM operations.

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held yesterday, August 2, 2021, to officially launch the new partnership between the City of Trenton and the Mercer County Park Commission to operate Capital City Farm in Trenton’s North Ward. The property at 301 North Clinton Ave. was acquired in 2014 by the City of Trenton, using open space funding provided by Mercer County, and soon thereafter was cleaned up and improved for farming.
Today, under a recently executed agreement whereby the City will maintain ownership of the property and the Park Commission will staff and manage the farm, Capital City Farm grows healthy food, much of which is donated to the adjacent Trenton Area Soup Kitchen; offers learning and employment opportunities to Trenton residents; and maintains an open and green landscape to the surrounding neighborhood.
Mercer County and City of Trenton officials and representatives from the Garden State Agrihood Project and Trenton Area Soup Kitchen cut a ceremonial ribbon at the North Clinton Avenue entrance to Capital City Farm on Aug. 2.

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–19-year-old Athing Mu of Trenton, NJ wins the women’s 800m at the Olympics today. It is the first victory for Team USA in the 800m women’s event since 1968.

For those who have followed her in Trenton and beyond, Athing Mu’s gold medal performance is the natural progression of someone who has been breaking records throughout her young career. Mu’s knack for breaking records continued this morning, when she utterly dominated her 800-meter event, claiming the first gold medal for an American woman in that event since 1968 and breaking a U.S. record at the same time.
It’s a precious thing to be able to achieve so much at such a young age, and I’m confident her excellent showing will serve as a timeless inspiration to the youth who call the Capital City home. Trenton makes champions, and the whole world got to see it today.
Congratulations, Athing Mu, on your well-earned success! We’re proud of you and look forward to coming together as a community to celebrate this wonderful achievement.

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–A two vehicle crash this morning at Rosemont & Hoffman Avenues sent one of the vehicles crashing into a home. The Trenton Fire Department, TPD and Trenton EMS responded to the scene. Trenton Police Department is investigating the crash. No further information is available.

PRINCETON, NJ (MERCER)–On August 3, 2021, at 5:11 am, Princeton Theological Seminary Security contacted the Princeton Police Department to report a fire at the Lenox House, 31 Library Place.
Princeton Police Department dispatched the Princeton Fire Department and the Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad. First arriving Princeton Fire Department units found fire through the roof and on the 3rd floor of the building.
Automatic mutual aid was received from Princeton Plasma Physics Lab Fire Department, Plainsboro Fire Department, Princeton Junction Fire Department, Rocky Hill Fire Department, Kingston Fire Department, Lawrenceville Fire Department, Hopewell Fire Department, Montgomery #1 & #2 Fire Companies and Monmouth Junction Fire Department. In addition to mutual aid a recall of the career staff was needed.
The fire reached 2 alarms before it was placed under control at 7:11 am.
There are no reported civilian or Fire Fighter injuries.
The fire suppression efforts were led by Fire Chief Thomas Johnson. The investigation is being led by Director of Emergency Services Michael Yeh, Fire Marshal Joseph Novak, Princeton Police Department Detective Sergeant Benjamin Gering and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.
The fire remains under investigation currently.
Statement from the Princeton Theological Seminary:
A fire began early morning on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at the Lenox House. The campus building is primarily used for faculty offices. The building was empty at the time of the fire, and no one was injured.
We thank the Princeton Police Department for its response, the Fire Department for containing and extinguishing the fire, as well as all other first responders who swiftly arrived to campus.

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–Around 1:28 a.m. the Trenton Fire Department was sent to the are of Hudson and Emory Street in Trenton for a commercial building on fire. Upon arrival it was reported that the firefighters had heavy fire from the building and that they were leading off with a deck gun. The chief arrived and called for a 2nd Alarm since the building involved took up a large part of a city block. There were reports of possible victims trapped but after a primary search no victims were found. The building involved in fire was along Hudson Street starting Emory Street and ending at Mott Street. At least 3 deck guns and two elevated master streams in service.
The fire was on the abandoned John A. Roebling’s Sons Company & American Steel & Wire Company complex and the main address is 650 South Clinton Avenue.
The fire was under control around 2:30 a.m.
No further information is available at this time.
