Statement from Mayor Dave Fried: To my fellow residents of Robbinsville Township,It is impossible to deny that racism exists.While we are not proud of this fact, we feel it is our responsibility as a government, as a society and as human beings to do all we can to be part of the change. We are outraged by what has happened, not only in Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Ferguson, North Charleston and Atlanta, but in communities all over the United States when people are brutalized, murdered, shot and otherwise treated unfairly. In law enforcement, the taking of another person’s life should ALWAYS be a last resort and never something any of us should be desensitized to.Making sure our officers are properly trained is of paramount importance. That is why I wanted to construct the first live-fire simulator in the state, so that we could have the best trained officers when it comes to de-escalation and “shoot/don’t shoot” scenarios. Taking a life should be avoided at all costs, and we can only have that assurance if our officers are properly trained.We are allowed to feel more than one thing at once. We should all be outraged by recent events and free to protest peacefully, while at the same time supporting our local law enforcement, which took an oath to keep us safe. I am proud of the RTPD and have the utmost confidence in them. We have spent years working on community policing, and as a result Robbinsville has one of the safest and most diverse communities in the region.I ask everyone to pray for our nation. We need to do better and we owe it to the next generation to make sure this world is a better place for them. We will only accomplish this by working together and allowing love – not hate – to flourish.

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–“New Jersey COVID-19 Emergency Bond Act,” authorizes issuance of State bonds totaling $5 billion and authorizes borrowing from federal government.
The bill is sponsored by: Eliana Pintor Marin, Democrat, District 29, Essex County.
This is a new proposed tax in the State of New Jersey on personal property and real estate as the bill is written and will be tacked on to your already high property tax bill.
If this bill passes and signed by Governor Murphy, get ready for your property taxes to go up even more with this new state tax.
This is New Jersey and a new property tax will be started under the disguise of good intentions but will be anything but. This is just a way to get a foot in the door to add a State of New Jersey Tax on your property tax bill.
In the fine print of the 23 page bill:
Page 21, Under # 23 b.
“…there shall be assessed, levied, and collected annually in each of the municipalities of the counties of this State, a tax on the real and personal property upon which municipal taxes are or shall be assessed, levied, and collected, sufficient to meet the interest on all outstanding bonds issued hereunder and on the bonds proposed to be issued under this act in the calendar year in which the tax is to be raised and for the payment of bonds falling due in the year following the year for which the tax is levied. The tax shall be assessed, levied, and collected in the same manner and at the same time as are other taxes upon real and personal property. The governing body of each municipality shall cause to be paid to the county treasurer of the county in which the municipality is located, on or before December 15 in each year, the amount of tax herein directed to be assessed and levied, and the county treasurer shall pay the amount of the tax to the State Treasurer on or before December 20 in each year”

“…State Treasurer shall certify to the Director of the Division of Budget and Accounting in the Department of the Treasury the amount necessary to be raised by taxation for those purposes, the same to be assessed, levied, and collected for and in the ensuing calendar year. The director shall, on or before March 1 following, calculate the amount in dollars to be assessed, levied, and collected in each county as herein set forth. This calculation shall be based upon the corrected assessed valuation of each county for the year preceding the year in which the tax is to be assessed, but the tax shall be assessed, levied, and collected upon the assessed valuation of the year in which the tax is assessed and levied. The director shall certify the amount to the county board of taxation and the treasurer of each county. The county board of taxation shall include the proper amount in the current tax levy of the several taxing districts of the county in proportion to the ratables as ascertained for the current year.”

ROBBINSVILLE, NJ (MERCER)–A 5:39 pm the Robbinsville Township Police Department and Robbinsville Fire Department were dispatched to Route 130 and Sharon Road for a boat fire. Upon arrival police and fire found boat heavily involved in fire with an exposure of a camper trailer.
Firefighters went in service with a 1 3/4″ line and police directed traffic at the scene. Additional aid was called from Hamilton Township Fire Department to assist with manpower. The boat appeared to be totaled but the camper had exterior fire damage. The fire is currently under investigation by the Robbinsville Township Fire Marshal.
Update: The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental.

ALLENTOWN, NJ (MONMOUTH)–A thunderstorm ripped though the area with high winds this afternoon leaving trees and wires down. Several homes were damaged by falling trees and power lines down closed roadways.
At Allentown High School the visitor bleachers were tossed into the middle of the football field. One parent on scene late this afternoon stated just a few hours ago his daughter walked across a stage for a graduation ceremony on the same field.
Upper Freehold Regional Schools Superintendent Mark Guterl said, “Most importantly, no one was hurt.” “We are still assessing the damage, but the wind speeds must have been extreme. These bleachers are heavy.” in an e-mail to one of our reporters.
North of Allentown our local weather station revived a gust to 34 mph but from the look of the clouds the storm looked worse towards Allentown. Other weather stations in the area: Cream Ridge 57 mph gusts, Columbus, Burlington 67 mph

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–Mayor W. Reed Gusciora stated 3 children were injured, 2 shot and 1 suffered a head injury while running away from gunfire at Academy Park (Academy Street Playground) A 30 year old male was also shot across the street for a total of 4 injured from the gun violence.
The Mayor said, “I found it disturbing that gunfire erupted in an alley game in progress and then indiscriminate shots were struck against 2 other juveniles. This was a traumatic experience for these 2 little girls and one young man as well as their families, their community and to be witness to the shootings and those in the surrounding vicinity. When a child goes to a park they should believe they are in a safe environment gunshots should be the farthest from their minds unfortunately that is not the case with these three young persons. After all we protect them because they are Trenton’s future.”
City Council President Kathy McBride, This is just tragedy upon tragedy in this city. Enough Is Enough I had all I can stand and as a parent I do not want to put up with it any longer, if you want to part of a solution lets sit down and come up with some ideas.

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–This morning just before 9:30 am three people were shot on a playground in the area of Wood Street, on the Academy Street Playground and one additional child was injured fleeing the gunfire.
A 12 year old female was shot in stomach area and had to have 12 inches of intestine removed in surgery, 10 year old shot in the rib cage, a 7 year old female was injured running from the gunfire (not shot), a 30 year old male had gunshot wounds to left arm and left leg.

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–The shooting victim from yesterday’s shooting on Oakland Street has been identified as Dontae Barnes, 37, of Trenton. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
