EAST WINDSOR, NJ (MERCER)–At 3:19 p.m. Hightstown and Robbinsville Fire Departments were dispatched to the New Jersey Turnpike at mile post 65 in the south bound outer lanes for a fully involved dump truck on fire. Firefighters from Hightstown and Robbinsville extinguished the fire and called a water tanker from Cranbury Fire Company to the scene. New Jersey State Police shut down a lane of travel during the firefight. No further details are available at this time.

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (MERCER)–At 3:58 p.m. the Hamilton Township Fire Department, RWJ EMS and Capital Health Paramedics were detailed to South Broad Street at Harcourt Drive for an overturned vehicle with entrapment. First arriving firefighters reported that there was on overturned vehicle with no entrapment and recalled the rescue assignment. RWJ EMS responded and treated one reported injury. Hamilton Township Police is investigating the crash. No further details available at this time. If further details become available the story will be updated.

NEW EGYPT, NJ (OCEAN)–A Walk to End Brain Tumors will be held Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Laurita Winery for the 12th Annual New Egypt, the walk will support of brain tumor research. 100% of registration fees & participant sponsorships go toward the Musella Foundation for Brain Tumor Research and Information, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit public charity whose mission is to find a cure for brain tumors as well as support victims, survivors and their families. 100% of funds raised go toward The Musella Foundation for Brain Tumor Research and Information, Inc.

EAST WINDSOR, NJ (MERCER)–At 7:16 a.m., Robbinsville and Hightstown Fire Departments were dispatched to mile post 65.3 south bound in the outer lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike for an overturned van with entrapment. RWJ EMS, Captial Health Paramedics and NJ State Police also responded to the scene. It was determined that several people riding in the van were able to get out on their own power and extrication was not needed. One person was transported with non-life-threatening injuries to a local hospital for treatment. New Jersey State Police is investigating the crash. No further details are available at this time.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ (MONMOUTH)–Ocean State Job Lot (OSJL), the region’s premier discount retail chain with 148 stores across the Northeast, is pleased to announce that its store located at 600 Trotters Way, Freehold, New Jersey has donated $200 to the Plainfield Area Humane Society as part of its “Close to Our Heart” program.
Since the program’s inception in 2020, Close to Our Heart has empowered each OSJL store to choose organizations to support each year that are meaningful to its associates and the local community. The Plainfield Area Humane Society provides veterinary care and shelter, and works to find the right home for all the animals in their care, including those with special needs or circumstances.
“Ocean State Job Lot takes pride in our philanthropic work,” said David Sarlitto, Executive Director, Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation. “Through the ‘Close to Our Heart’ program, we make a donation to a local area non-profit that is ‘close to the heart’ of that community. The Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation has consistently and actively invested in providing relief to the communities in which it operates. In March 2022, OSJL’s “Relief for Ukraine” program donated health and hygiene products, food, warm clothes and medical supplies for Ukrainian refugee efforts due to the ongoing war. OSJL’s “To The Rescue” program, which concluded this week, benefits animal welfare organizations, wildlife centers, rehabilitation farms and non-profit rescue organizations throughout the Northeast. Currently, OSJL’s “Building Brighter Futures” fundraising campaign is happening in-store and online to directly support organizations that assist children in need.

TRENTON – Governor Phil Murphy today sent a letter to the Office of the State Comptroller to request an investigation into the financial situation of New Jersey City University (NJCU). This request follows public reports that NJCU has gone from a $108 million surplus in 2014 to a $67 million deficit today, with another $156 million in debt.
“New Jersey prides ourselves on offering a high-quality education to anyone seeking a postsecondary degree in our state,” said Governor Murphy. “A university facing significant financial challenges will struggle to continue providing the high-quality education its students deserve – if it can remain open at all. As a public university, NJCU is accountable to our state government and the residents of New Jersey. In light of serious reports about NJCU’s financial situation, I firmly believe an independent investigation into the school’s finances and operations would be in the best interests of the public at this time.”
NJCU is a public university chartered in 1927 that currently serves over 5,000 undergraduate students and thousands more in graduate school.
Although the COVID-19 pandemic put a financial strain on many institutions of higher education due to a decline in enrollment and shortfalls in tuition revenue, it appears NJCU’s financial issues pre-date the pandemic. A recent news report by the Jersey Journal found that the 2014 surplus of $108 million vanished within one year due to pension liability and the issuance of bonds toward a greater expansion venture.
Under New Jersey law, the Office of the State Comptroller is responsible for conducting assessments of the performance and management of programs of the Executive branch of State government, including public institutions of higher education. The Office exercises its oversight functions independently.

TUCKERTON, NJ (OCEAN)–Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that on August 4, 2022, Jeremy Bradley-Forman, 34, of Tuckerton, was charged with Possession of Child Pornography in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4b(5)(b)(iii).
This investigation was the result of referrals from the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The Task Force detected that a Google Account user was downloading images of child pornography from the internet. An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit identified a Google Account user with a Tuckerton address as the individual downloading the images of child pornography; that individual was further identified as Bradley-Forman.
On August 4, 2022, Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit and Tuckerton Police Department executed a court-authorized search warrant on Bradley-Forman’s residence in Tuckerton. As a result, Detectives seized a desktop computer with a hard-drive containing images of child pornography. Multiple additional electronic items were seized from Bradley-Forman’s residence and are pending forensic examination. Bradley-Forman was subsequently taken into custody at his residence, processed at Tuckerton Police Department Headquarters, and transported to the Ocean County Jail where he is presently lodged pending a detention hearing.
Prosecutor Billhimer commends the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit, Tuckerton Police Department, United States Department of Homeland Security-Investigations Unit, and New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, for their collaborative assistance in connection with this investigation leading to Bradley-Forman’s arrest.
The charges referenced above are merely accusations and the press and public are reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
