TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–A Trenton man has been arrested and charged with Saturday’s homicide of Daniel Alvaranga, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri reported.
Allen Q. Brookins, 28, of East State Street, is charged with murder and weapons offenses. He was taken into custody Thursday evening by members of the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force. The prosecutor’s office has filed a motion to detain Brookins pending trial.
The charges are the result of an investigation by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force. At approximately 9:50 p.m. on Saturday evening, November 28, police responded to a report of male stabbed in the 300 block of Brunswick Avenue. Upon arrival, they located the victim, 33-year-old Alvaranga, in the intersection of Brunswick Avenue and Southard Street. He was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.
Despite having been charged, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

The male suspect was taken into custody without incident and a knife was recovered during the arrest. He was identified as Andre N. Hage, age 32 of Jackson, NJ. Jackson Police Detectives joined the investigation and charged Mr. Hage with Burglary (2nd degree), two counts of Aggravated Assault (2nd degree), two counts of Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose (3rd degree) and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (4th degree).

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ (OCEAN)–On Friday December 4, 2020 at 1:34 am, officers responded to a residence located on North Hope Chapel Road on the report of a female who had flagged down a passing motorist and was reporting that she had been assaulted at her house.
Responding officers located the female and were then able to take the male suspect, who was still in the front porch area of the victim’s residence, into custody without incident and recovered a knife from him during a search incident to arrest.
An investigation revealed that for unknown reasons, the male suspect left his residence located on North Hope Chapel Road and went to a neighboring residence where he kicked and punched the front door. The residents woke up but did not answer the door and after a few moments the suspect left the area.
He then went to a second residence where he kicked the door, causing it to open. He entered the residence and encountered the 71 year old female resident who had been awoken and came out of her bedroom to check on the cause of the noise. The suspect produced a knife which he had brought with him and confronted the female at which time she sat on the floor. As she was speaking with the suspect, she attempted to get up at which time the suspect stabbed her once in the upper chest/shoulder area and once in the arm. It was during this time that a 69 year old male resident exited his bedroom and confronted the suspect and the male was stabbed twice in his arm. The suspect then walked out to the front porch area of the residence where he stayed until officers arrived.
The female was able to get to a cell phone and then exited the residence through a window, where she ultimately made her way to the road and was able to flag down a vehicle.

Both victims were transported to an area hospital for treatment for non life threatening injuries.
During the investigation, Mr. Hage was transported to another area hospital for evaluation and treatment. Transport to the Ocean County Jail is pending a determination on his status.
– The media and the public are reminded that any persons arrested or charged with any offenses or crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

Update: Sgt. Philip Curry of the New Jersey State Police, Public Information Bureau told MidJersey.news:
The crash occurred at 9:45am on the outer roadway of the NJ Turnpike northbound mile post 54, Bordentown, Burlington County. Preliminary investigation revealed that a tractor-trailer was stopped on the right shoulder when it was struck by a northbound traveling utility body pickup truck. The pickup then crossed the roadway and struck the guardrail dividing the inner and the outer roadway coming to a rest partially in the inner roadway right lane and the outer roadway left lane. The truck spilled debris on the outer roadway which caused the outer to be temporarily closed for cleanup. Traffic was diverted to the inner with minimal impact on traffic.
A section of guardrail sustained substantial damage as a result of the crash.
The driver of the TT sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Capital Health.
BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP, NJ (BURLINGTON)-NJSP, Fire and EMS responded to a motor vehicle crash on the NJ Turnpike near mile post 54.4 north bound outer lanes at 9:54 am. When Bordentown and Florence firefighters arrived they went in service to cut an occupant out of one of the vehicles. It appears that there are vehicles on both the right and left side of the outer lanes. NJ Turnpike is reporting property damage so expect delays in the area. At least two were transported by Endeavor Emergency Squad and Robbinsville ambulances to the Trauma Center at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton.
Responding were Bordentown Township Fire Department, Florence Township Fire Department, Robbinsville Township Fire Department EMS, and Endeavor Emergency Squad responded to the scene. NJ State Police is investigating the crash. NJ Turnpike Authority is making emergency repairs in the area of where the crash happened.

FREEHOLD, NJ (MONMOUTH)–A Freehold man is facing charges related to the shooting and stabbing of a 28-year-old Holmdel man occurring this past Monday, announced Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
Julian Lee, 25, of Freehold, is charged with first degree Attempted Murder, first degree Armed Robbery, second degree Possession of a Firearm for an Unlawful Purpose, second degree Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, third degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and fourth degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Lee is being held in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending a future court date.
On Monday, November 30, 2020, Holmdel Township Police were dispatched to the area of Holmdel Road at approximately 10:40 p.m. in response to multiple 911 calls for a report of an injured male, whom a Good Samaritan transported to an area hospital. Upon his arrival at the hospital, the 28-year-old victim was treated for serious injuries resulting from apparent gunshot and stab wounds. After a swift, yet thorough investigation, Lee was identified as the assailant. On Thursday December 3, 2020, detectives located Lee in Atlantic City, where he was taken into police custody.
Prosecutor Gramiccioni and Holmdel Township Police Department Chief John Mioduszewski wish to assure local residents that this incident was quickly determined to be an isolated incident and there was never a direct threat to the community while the investigation was taking place.
The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and Holmdel Township Police Department were aided in this investigation by the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office, the Hazlet Township Police Department, the Howell Township Police Department, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, and the New Jersey State Police Gaming Commission.

If convicted of Attempted Murder or Armed Robbery, Lee faces a minimum sentence of 20 years in a New Jersey state prison, subject to the provisions of the “No Early Release Act” (NERA) requiring him to serve 85 percent of the sentence imposed before becoming eligible for release on parole. He would also be under parole supervision for five years following release from state prison.
If convicted of the second degree firearm offenses, Lee faces a sentence of five to ten years in prison. Each of these crimes is subject to the Graves Act, which requires a mandatory period of parole ineligibility of one half of the custodial sentence imposed, or 42 months, whichever is greater. If convicted of the third degree weapons offense, Lee faces a sentence of three to five years in prison. If convicted of the fourth degree weapons offense, Lee faces a sentence of up to 18 months in prison.
The case is assigned to Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutor Caitlin Sidley, of the Major Crimes Bureau.
Despite these charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has all of the trial rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and State law.
