HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (MERCER)–On September 20, 2021 at approximately 9:45 PM, Hamilton Police were detailed to the Home Depot at 750 Rt. 130, on an armed robbery investigation. Responding officers reported that two black males entered the store and removed several power tools. In an attempt to exit the store without paying for the items, one of the suspects physically assaulted an employee, while the second suspect brandished a handgun and pointed it in the direction of several employees. The suspects fled the store with the items, in what appears to be a light colored 2017 Subaru CrossTrek. The vehicle was last seen traveling south on Rt. 130.
Hamilton Police Detective Nicholas Schulte, developed two suspects through video surveillance that were involved in this incident. The first suspect was identified as 18 year old Ewing resident, Hysson Amaru Jones. The second suspect was identified as 22 year old Ewing resident, Danjulo O. Scott. Criminal complaints were generated for their arrest.
On September 23, 2021, Hamilton Police Detectives and members of the New Jersey State Police Crime Suppression Central Unit, initiated an investigation to locate both suspects. Members of the New Jersey State Police Crime Suppression Central Unit located both suspects on the 200 block of Greenland Avenue in Ewing. During a brief foot pursuit with the suspects, both were arrested, and a handgun was recovered at the scene.
Hysson Amaru Jones and Danjulo O. Scott were charged by Hamilton Detectives with 1ST Degree Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Weapons Offenses and Receiving Stolen Property. Danjulo O. Scott was charged with an additional count of Certain Persons Not To Possess Weapons. Both suspects are currently being held at the Mercer County Correctional Facility awaiting arraignment for their charges.
