ALLENTOWN, NJ (MONMOUTH)–Borough Hall is closed on Tuesday, February 2nd. Due to a heavy accumulation of snow today, overnight and into tomorrow, Borough Hall will be closed on Tuesday, February 2nd with our municipal office staff working remotely. HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (MERCER)–Township Offices will be CLOSED tomorrow, Tuesday, February 2nd. - No Township Curbside Garbage Collection Will Occur Tomorrow Tuesday, February 2. Garbage Collection for Area #2 residents, normally on Tuesday, February 2, will be on the next scheduled collection date of Friday, February 5.
- Residents are strongly reminded to remove ALL vehiclesfrom Township roadways to allow for snow removal.
- Residents are reminded to clear all snow from sidewalks and fire hydrants within 24 hours of the end of the snow fall.
SOUTH BRUNSWICK TOWNSHIP, NJ (MIDDLESEX)–DUE TO THE INCLEMENT WEATHER, REPUBLIC SERVICES HAS CANCELLED ALL TRASH AND RECYCLING COLLECTIONS FOR MONDAY FEB, 1ST AND TUESDAY, FEB 2ND

EWING TOWNSHIP, NJ (MERCER)–UPDATED TRASH PICKUP DELAY INFORMATION FOR FEB. 2ND, 2021
Due to the weather conditions scheduled trash pickup for today, Monday February 1st, has been delayed until Friday, February 5th, and the scheduled trash pickup for Tuesday, February 2nd, has been delayed until Saturday, February 6th.
Please do not put out your trash for these delayed pickups until the rescheduled day to help keep the road clear for plows. Thank you for your cooperation and stay warm.

LITTLE EGG HARBOR, NJ (OCEAN)–Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that on February 1, 2021, Michael Pillarella, 26, of Manahawkin, was arrested and charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(1), and two counts of Assault by Auto in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1c(2), relative to a motor vehicle crash that occurred in Little Egg Harbor Township during the evening hours of January 30, 2021.
On January 30, 2021, at approximately 9:45 p.m., officers from the Little Egg Harbor Township Police Department responded to the area of Radio Road and Baltusrol Court for a report of a two-vehicle crash with serious injuries. An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Vehicular Homicide Unit and Little Egg Harbor Police Department revealed that a 2017 Hyundai Elantra, operated by Pillarella, was traveling northbound on Radio Road when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, crossed over the centerline, and struck an oncoming 2006 Toyota XB travelling southbound on Radio Road. The Toyota XB was operated by a juvenile, and there was also a juvenile passenger in the vehicle. As a result of the crash, both juveniles sustained serious injuries and were subsequently airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where they remain listed in critical condition.
Pillarella was airlifted to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Trauma Center in Atlantic City for treatment of his injuries from the crash. A search warrant was obtained for a draw of Pillarella’s blood, and laboratory results remain pending. Pillarella was treated and released from the hospital, and was initially issued motor vehicle summonses for Reckless Driving in violation of N.J.S.A. 39:4-96, and Failure to Maintain Lane in violation of N.J.S.A. 39:4-88 on January 31, 2021.
An ongoing investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Vehicular Homicide Unit and Little Egg Harbor Police Department has resulted in the filing of additional charges against Pillarella for Aggravated Assault and Assault by Auto – two counts as to each offense relating to both juvenile victims. Pillarella was taken into custody today without incident by officers from the Little Egg Harbor Police Department. He was processed at Little Egg Harbor Police Headquarters, and transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he remains lodged pending a detention hearing.
Prosecutor Billhimer acknowledges the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Vehicular Homicide Unit, Little Egg Harbor Township Police Department, New Jersey State Police, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, for their collaborative assistance in connection with this investigation resulting in Pillarella’s arrest.
The press and public are reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–A Winter Storm Warning from the National Weather Service continues as Winter Storm Orlena moves though the area.
The National Weather Service Philadelphia-Mount Holly reports that heavy snow will continue with an additional snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches. Winds will gusting as high as 40 mph. Travel could be very difficult there will be areas of blowing snow that could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. The heaviest snow will end by late this evening. Periods of light snow accumulating snow will linger through Tuesday. The Winder Storm Warning will expire on 4:00 PM on Tuesday February 2, 2021.
There have been multiple accidents in the area South Brunswick Police Department reported at 12:00 pm that they have responded to 34 crashes/assists and that the roads remain hazardous. The remind people to stay off the roads as they are very slippery. NJ State Police has responded to 583 motor vehicle crashes and 839 aid to motorists. All agencies are urging residents to remain off the roadways and let snowplows do their jobs.

At 1:58 pm the Robbinsville Township Fire Department responded to the New Jersey Turnpike north bound in the inner lanes for a tractor-trailer accident blocking a lane.

The Robbinsville Township Fire Department also reminds those with fire hydrants near their homes to make sure they are clear. Clear a space 3 feet around the hydrant and a path to the roadway. This will help firefighters locate the hydrant and not have to spend time shoveling it out when needed in an emergency.

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–Governor Phil Murphy today announced that state offices and all six vaccine mega-sites will remain closed on Tuesday, February 2nd due to Winter Storm Orlena. New Jersey will remain under a state of emergency in response to the winter storm. Snow accumulation for the storm began as of Sunday afternoon, with the heaviest snow expected to continue during the day on Monday, and hazardous conditions to continue through Tuesday afternoon. Executive Order No. 218 declared a state of emergency across all 21 counties in New Jersey, allowing resources to be deployed throughout the state during the duration of the storm.
State offices will be closed on Tuesday, February 2nd, 2021. This does not impact weather-essential employees. Private companies and businesses should dismiss their employees at their own discretion. All six vaccine mega-sites will be closed on Tuesday, February 2nd due to the storm.
“Heavy snow, coastal flooding, and high winds are expected to continue across the state today into tomorrow,” said Governor Murphy. “I urge all of our residents to follow weather-related guidance and stay off the roads in order to allow access for essential workers and emergency personnel.”
Parts of New Jersey have already experienced heavy snow, coastal flooding, and blizzard-like conditions. The New Jersey State Police has activated the State Emergency Operations Center in order to monitor the storm. The New Jersey Department of Transportation, New Jersey Turnpike Authority, and South Jersey Transportation Authority will also deploy over 3,900 plows and spreaders to keep roads and communities safe.

How You and Your Family Can Stay Safe During the Storm
- Stay off roads if at all possible. If you must be on the roads, be sure to have an emergency kit for your car that includes items for winter such as blankets, socks, ice scraper/brush, windshield cleaner, and jumper cables.
- Limit your time outside. If you need to go outside, then wear layers of warm clothing. Watch for signs of frostbite and hypothermia.
- Avoid carbon monoxide poisoning. ONLY use generators and grills outdoors and away from windows. Never heat your home with a gas stovetop or oven.
- ALWAYS assume downed wires are live! NEVER touch them or drive over them!
- NEVER drive through flooded areas. Water may be deeper than you think!
- Avoid candles because of the extreme risk of fire. Use only battery powered lights, such as flashlights, for emergency lighting.
- Reduce the risk of a heart attack by avoiding overexertion when shoveling snow and walking in the snow.
- Pets are family too. If you’re cold, they’re cold. Bring them inside.
- If it is safe to do so, check on your neighbors. Older adults and young children are more at risk in extreme cold. Just a moment of your time can mean a lot to someone who may need help. NJ 2-1-1 has resources for those in need.
