TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–Just hours after they fought a two-alarm blaze involving two homes on Carteret Avenue, Trenton firefighters went back to work this evening (Friday, Dec. 10) battling another fire in a row of houses in the 600 block of Roebling Avenue. It was 8:23 p.m. when the Trenton Fire Department was alerted to the blaze at 625 Roebling Avenue, between Chestnut Avenue and Division Street. Dispatched were Engines 7, 3, and 10, Ladder 2, Rescue 1 and the South Battalion Chief. A column of smoke was spotted in the night sky, so the “All Hands” signal for a working fire was transmitted and the balance of the first alarm – Engine 6, Ladder 4, the North Battalion Chief and Special Services 1 – was dispatched. Heavy fire was showing from the rear of 625 Roebling Avenue, located on one end of a row of four attached two-story homes. Firefighters worked to prevent the flames from extending into the adjacent homes. The blaze was declared under control at 9:03 p.m. The Red Cross was contacted to help displaced residents. Earlier today, around 1:30 p.m., two attached homes in the 900 block of Carteret Avenue.
