LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ (MERCER)–Police say that on Monday, January 22, 2024, at approximately 11:50 a.m., the Lawrence Township Police Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting a house fire on the campus of The Lawrenceville School. Officers responded to the campus to find visible fire coming from the second floor of the home along the first block of Humphrey’s Drive.
Members of the Lawrence Township Fire Department were assisted by area fire departments from Hamilton Township, City of Trenton, Ewing Township, Princeton Township, Robbinsville Township and Plainsboro Township.
The fire was placed under control at 2:12 p.m. by Lawrence Township Fire Chief, J. Oakley. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Lawrence Township Police Department, Lawrence Township Fire Marshal’s Office and the Mercer County Prosecutors Office.
The Lawrenceville School issued the follow statement regarding the fire:
“Emergency crews responded to a fire at a faculty residence. All community members are safe and the fire did not spread beyond the single residence. All School emergency protocols were immediately and properly executed. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Lawrenceville is deeply appreciative of the efforts of local first responders and is focused on supporting the family during this difficult time.”
