TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–A former Treasurer of East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company #2, Michael Crismali was indicted by a grand jury on April 2, 2024. The indictment includes Second Degree Official Misconduct, Second Degree Theft by Fiduciary and Second Degree Theft by Unlawful Taking.
Count 1: Official Misconduct – Second Degree
The Grand Jurors of the State of New Jersey, for the County of Mercer, upon their oaths, present that MICHAEL CRISMALIthrough a course of conduct from 2017 and continuing through January 2022, in the Township of East Windsor, in the County aforesaid, and within the jurisdiction of this Court, did knowingly commit acts relating to his public office but constituting an unauthorized exercise of his official functions, specifically while serving in the office of the Treasurer of the East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 2, misappropriated funds of the Fire Company used them for his own personal purposes, including payment of his mortgage and bills, in an aggregate amount in excess of $200, and purposely neglected to report these transactions in monthly reports as Treasurer to the Fire Company,
contrary to the provisions of N.J.S. 2C:30-2, and against the peace of this State, the Government and dignity of the same.
