Continuing Coverage: Trenton Adjusts Its Curfew to 7 PM to 6 AM
HAMILTON TOWNSHIP – TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–As reported early this afternoon Hamilton Mayor Jeff Martin and Trenton Mayor W. Reed Gusciora have set curfews in the city and township tonight from 7 pm to 6 am.
Both WaWa stores in Hamilton closed at 5:30 pm., Walmart on Route 130, BJ’s Wholesale were also closed prior to curfew. Home Depot was also closed early and a forklift was in front of store moving pallets in front of doors. The Hamilton Township Public Works Department was out placing barricades at the entrances to Hamilton Marketplace right at 7 pm. and a heavy police presence was in the area.

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (MERCER)–A serious accident occurred at the intersection of Kuser Road and Perilli Drive around 5 pm. Hamilton Township Fire Department responded to extricate one person from one of the vehicles. Two people were transported to the hospital by RWJ Hamilton Ambulance. Hamilton Township Police are investigating. No further information is available about the accident.

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (MERCER)–On June 1, 2020 at approximately 12:46 AM, Hamilton Police were dispatched to the Metro PCS, located at 2098 Nottingham Way, on a report of a four to five people attempting to break into the store. When police arrived on scene the parties ran toward the back of the store. Officers located three males and one female and placed them under arrest. The arrested parties were identified as DaQuann Bradley, 22, Marquis Ellison, 19, Shyonn Wright, 18, and Brinecia Garner, 20. All four reside in Trenton, NJ and were charged with Criminal Attempt Burglary and released.

Despite having been charged, every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

$900. Stolen From CVS on Hamilton Avenue
HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (MERCER)–On June 1, 2020 at approximately 12:38 AM, Hamilton Police were dispatched to the CVS, located at 2147 Hamilton Avenue on a report of a Burglary in Progress. It was reported three black males were inside the store and a black vehicle was running nearby on Brockton Avenue. Responding Officers located a black BMW fleeing the scene. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver refused to stop and the pursuit was called off for safety.
The front doors to the store were pried open and the glass was broken. Approximately $900.00 was taken from the registers in the store. There are no suspects at this time.

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–In light of civil unrest that occurred on Sunday evening, a 7 p.m. curfew is in place for Trenton, effective immediately. The curfew applies to all individuals and businesses. All streets and sidewalks must be clear of pedestrian and vehicular traffic by
7 p.m. with the following exceptions:
- Reporting to or from, or performing, their job;
- Because of a reasonable fear for his or her health or safety;
- At the direction of law enforcement or other government agency;
- Delivering food or beverages to, or caring for someone who is in need of medical attention;
- Government officials or employees taking part in their official duties;
- Health care workers;
- Seeking medical attention, essential social services, or assistance from law enforcement or emergency services;
- Caring for family or other individuals with whom the resident has a close personal relationship such as those whom the individual is a caretaker or romantic partner.

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (MERCER)–A propane grill next to a house caught fire in the 100 Block of Lafayette Avenue was quickly knocked down by the Hamilton Township Fire Department this afternoon. Units responding to the scene reported seeing smoke in the air and called for an “all hands” or a full first alarm fire. Firefighter were met with heavy fire in the rear of the structure. Firefighters pulled lines and quickly extinguished the fire. Crews stayed on scene for overhaul and the fire marshal was called for an investigation. The Hamilton Township Building Department also responded.

UPDATE: Roadway fully reopened at 3:45 pm.
ROBBINSVILLE, NJ (MERCER)–The Robbinsville Township Police Department and Robbinsville Fire Department responded to a serious accident in the 1800 Block of Route 130, in front of Timothy’s Garden Center at 1:53 pm.
Upon arrival of police and firefighters a car was well involved in fire and there were several injuries requiring mutual aid ambulances to be dispatched. After the fire extinguished and cars towed the NJ Department of Transportation responded with a sand truck to help clean up the area.
The roadway was closed until the accident could be cleaned up.

BREAKING: Chaos In the City; Peaceful “Black Lives Matter” Protest Turns Violent After Dark
HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (MERCER)—Hamilton Township Mayor Jeff Martin announced a curfew effective 7 pm tonight though 6 am, June 2nd This in response to civil unrest in Trenton after a protest at the State Capital yesterday. (Mayor’s full statement below).
Hamilton Township reported an abundance of calls as many as 90 calls per hour until about 3 am. Several arrests have been made regarding break-ins including Family Dollar on Hamilton Avenue and other locations in the Bromley section of town.
Hamilton Township officials also reported Hamilton Police responded mutual aid to the City of Trenton and one Hamilton Township Police Officer was injured overnight after being hit in head with an object. The officer was wearing protective gear and still suffered injury.
There were no incidents at the Walmart on Nottingham Way thanks to the extra police presence.
Hamilton Township is preparing for another evening of enhanced patrols.
STATEMENT BY MAYOR JEFF MARTIN
Like so many in our nation, I am deeply saddened over the senseless murder of George Floyd. I stand with all who have peacefully demonstrated in the name of justice and a call to end systemic racism and racial inequality.
While we are a nation grieving for those tragically killed, we cannot allow our message of ‘liberty and justice for all’ to be muted by the looting and violence seen over the weekend across our country, including the senseless destruction in Mercer County last night. Violence that hurts our residents and our businesses, who are already suffering due to the pandemic, does not help to seek justice for Mr. Floyd and countless others before him.
We as humans are inherently imperfect but must not let the negative work of the few, destroy the positive work of the many. I implore all of us to stand together peacefully. We must set a better example so the world our children are raised in, is one we can all be proud of.
Last night, Hamilton’s first responders, and specifically our Hamilton Police Department, exemplified their professionalism and commitment to keep all of Hamilton safe. They chose a profession that puts them out on the front lines instead of being home safe with their families. Our police officers and firefighters are working around the clock to ensure we remain as protected as possible. I hope you all join me in thanking them for their continued service and remarkable courage.
Hamilton is coordinating our continued preparedness with our Mercer County partners. To that effect, we are joining Trenton in instilling a curfew tonight that will begin at 7pm and end at 6am on Tuesday, June 2nd. This curfew orders all businesses to close and all residents to be home as of 7pm tonight. We believe neighboring towns will also do the same to form a regional curfew to protect our residents and businesses.”

MILLSTONE TOWNSHIP, NJ (MONMOUTH)–In this time of social distancing, being “together” is tough. This weekend, families from both Cub Scout Pack 116 and Boy Scout Troop 116 of Millstone Township went camping…. at home. With the aid of a private Facebook group and Zoom video conferencing; scouts and their families spent time outside cooking, building campsite gateways, doing scavenger hunts and pioneering projects.
Fifty families with 71 scouts located in both Millstone and Upper Freehold and ranging in age from 6 years to adult participated in the weekend long event. Cubmaster, Chris Weltner, commented, “This was an excellent event, the weather could not have been any better. I am proud of the scouts who attended and showed their scouting skills and scout spirit. This pack/troop interaction should occur more often and I look forward to participating in person.” Teaching, learning & growing… that was the highlight of the weekend that held the theme “Scouts Camping Apart yet Together: bridging the gap from Lion to Eagle”. Each morning began with a rousing Reveille and each night ended with Taps played by the Troop 116 Buglers. George Schmidt, Senior Patrol Leader, said “I was happy to see so many scouts getting involved in different activities. It was the closest thing we have had to a camp out in months.”
The older scouts from Troop 116 posted instructional videos ranging from cooking, hiking and First Aid skills to pioneering projects, Leave No Trace tips and flag retirement ceremonies. Challenges were made and accepted by scouts of all ages… cooking, camp gateway projects, scavenger hunts, scout skills, and, of course, a s’mores challenge ended Saturday night on a sweet note! Troop Committee Chair, John Keleher. noted that he was “really impressed by not only the engagement of the scouts, but the quality of the content that was posted and shared online. The amount of effort these boys put in was really great!”
