HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (MERCER)–Hamilton Police say, on January 21, 2022 several residents of Hamilton Township reported that a party they only knew as “Dill” was posing as a United States Federal Immigration Officer and promising to expedite matters involving their citizenship status within the United States, bilking the victims of thousands of dollars. Through investigative efforts, “Dill” was found to be Leroy Quammie of Philadelphia, Pa. As a result of the investigation, Mr. Quammie was charged with two counts of Unauthorized Practice of Immigration Law, (1) one count of Theft by Deception and (1) one count of Attempted Theft by Deception. Mr. Quammie turned himself in on March 9, 2022 to Hamilton Police Division Detectives. Mr. Quammie was processed and transported to the Mercer County Corrections Center.

EAST WINDSOR (MERCER)– A former Treasurer of East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company #2 is facing charges after the Fire Company reported that he had misappropriated funds from the company, according to police.
On Sunday, February 6, 2022, the East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company #2 reported to the East Windsor Police Department that they believed their previous Treasurer, Michael Crismali, had misappropriated funds from the Fire Company for an extended period of time. Investigation revealed that Crismali misappropriated approximately $58,000 from the Fire Company at various times between April 2017 and July 2019.
Michael V. Crismali, 43, of East Windsor, was arrested, charged, and released pending court action. The charges have been forwarded to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office for prosecution.

Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Acting Chief Joseph Mandola of the Old Bridge Police Department announce that a man has been sentenced in connection with a fatal motor vehicle collision, which resulted in the death of a woman and injury to three others.
On July 18, 2021, authorities responded to Route 9 South near Texas Road following the report of a serious motor vehicle collision. Upon their arrival, officers located a Toyota Echo containing four occupants with varying injuries. One of the occupants, Ciara Gee, 20, of Raleigh, North Carolina was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers also located Sergio Seixeiro, 40, of Monroe in his damaged Ford Expedition.
An initial investigation by Officer Steve Connolly of the Old Bridge Police Department and Detective Jonathan Berman of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined Seixiero’s truck impacted the rear of the Toyota Echo. Speed, reckless driving, and intoxication were determined to be contributing factors.
Seixeiro was later charged with multiple offenses and pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree Aggravated Manslaughter, one count of second- degree aggravated assault, and two counts of fourth-degree Assault by Auto. Seixeiro also pleaded guilty to Driving While Intoxicated.
On March 8, 2022, following sentencing arguments by Assistant Prosecutors Keith Abrams and Kaitlyn Poggi, Seixeiro was sentenced by the Honorable Benjamin Bucca, J.S.C. to eight years in state prison. Seixeiro must serve 85% of his sentence before he is eligible for parole. Upon his release, Seixeiro will be subject to a fifteen-month loss of license.

NEWARK, N.J.— A woman from Louisiana was arrested by police after Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers prevented her from carrying a loaded handgun onto her flight on Tuesday, March 8, at Newark Liberty International Airport.
The .40 caliber gun was not loaded, but was accompanied by a gun magazine that was loaded with five bullets. It was spotted inside one of the woman’s carry-on bags when a TSA officer who was staffing the checkpoint X-ray monitor spotted the weapon. TSA then alerted Port Authority Police who confiscated the handgun and arrested the woman, a resident of New Orleans, on weapons charges.
“Running late for a flight is no excuse for bringing a gun to a security checkpoint. If you want to transport your gun for your flight, you need to take the time to properly pack it, just like you take the time to pack your other items for a trip,” said Thomas Carter, TSA’s Federal Security Director for New Jersey. “That means packing your unloaded firearm in a hard-sided locked case and then taking it to the airline check-in counter to declare it. The airline will ensure it is transported in checked baggage.”

Bringing a gun to an airport checkpoint carries a federal civil penalty because TSA reserves the right to issue a civil penalty to travelers who have guns and gun parts with them at a checkpoint. Civil penalties for bringing a handgun into a checkpoint can stretch into thousands of dollars, depending on mitigating circumstances. This applies to travelers with or without concealed gun carry permits because even though an individual may have a concealed carry permit, it does not allow for a firearm to be carried onto an airplane. The complete list of civil penalties is posted online. Additionally, if a traveler with a gun is a member of TSA PreCheck®, that individual will lose their TSA PreCheck privileges.
Firearm possession laws vary by state and locality and passengers should do their homework to make sure that they are not violating any local firearm laws. Travelers should also contact their airline as they may have additional requirements for traveling with firearms and ammunition.
Last year TSA officers detected 5,972 guns at security checkpoints nationwide and 86 percent of them were loaded.
