TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–A New Jersey Transit spokesperson told MidJersey.news that at 1:44 p.m. the New Jersey Transit River Line Light Rail Train departed the Camden Waterfront for Trenton with a scheduled arrival time of 2:51 p.m. The Light Rail Train fatally struck a male pedestrian at the South Broad Street grade crossing in Trenton at approximately 2:52 p.m., the age of the male is unknown at this time. There were no injuries to the approximately 30 customers on board or to the Light Rail Operator. The River Line Light Rail was suspended between Trenton and Bordentown and is now back on schedule. The New Jersey Transit Police are investigating the incident.
Update: River Line light rail service is suspended in both directions between Bordentown and Trenton due to a pedestrian fatality at South Broad Street. Substitute bus service is being provided.
