Serious Motor Vehicle Crash, DWI, Assault by Auto, Endangerment of a Child, Fugitive from Justice, Contempt of Court, and Driving with a Suspended License

WEST WINDSOR, NJ (MERCER)–On Wednesday April, 14, 2021 at 6:18 pm, the West Windsor Police Department was detailed to a Serious Motor Vehicle Crash on US Route 1 North at the Hyatt Regency Princeton. Upon the arrival of police, Vehicle #1, a 2007 Acura RDX was located approximately 150′ off of the roadway. Vehicle #2, a 2017 Nissan Rogue was in the shoulder of US Route 1 North at the exit ramp for Alexander Road. Driver #1, Jaclyn A. Hens, was semi unconscious with inquires to several areas of the body. A (6) year old passenger of Vehicle #1 sustained a severe leg injury.
Police said the following was determined: The Acura and the Nissan had been traveling Northbound on US Route 1 with the Nissan being in the center lane of travel. The Acura, from behind, struck the Nissan. The Acura continued to the right and veered off of the roadway where it struck a tree and came to an uncontrolled rest afterward. Hens was determined to be DWI. West Windsor Emergency Services transported Hens and the (6) year old to Capital Health Regional Fuld for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
In addition to being DWI, Hens was found to be a Suspended Driver with an Outstanding Warrant from Hamilton Township (Atlantic County). Neither Hens nor the (6) year old were properly restrained inside of the vehicle at the time of the collision. Hens was subsequently released from Hamilton Township pending a future court date. No other injuries were reported or observed.
Hens was charged with DWI, Assault by Auto, Child Endangerment, Contempt of Court, Failure to Maintain a Lane, Reckless Driving, Driving While Suspended, (2) Counts of Failure to Use Restraints pending a future date at the Mercer County Superior Court.
