TRENTON, NJ, (Mercer) – City firefighters fought a fire that damaged the office and shop building of a small used car dealership Friday evening (Oct. 4, 2024). The blaze at Mid-Town Auto Sales, located at 1314 South Broad Street, near Remsen Avenue not far from the city’s border with Hamilton Township, was reported about 6:05 p.m. Heavy smoke was reportedly billowing from the two-bay structure when firefighters arrived. Under the direction of Battalion Chief Dave Smolka, crews from Engines 3, 7, 10 and 6, Ladders 2 and 4, Rescue 1 and Special Services 1 battled the blaze and managed to bring it under control just before 6:30 p.m. There were no reports of any injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation by city fire and police officials.
