Afternoon Update:
The Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department are investigating a shooting that occurred in the area of Rutherford Avenue and Prospect Street last night. At approximately 8:21 pm, Trenton Police received a ShotSpotter activation for six rounds in the area of 328 Rutherford Avenue. Trenton Police responded to the area and located a male in an area behind 332 and 330 Rutherford Avenue suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to the hospital but was later pronounced deceased. The victim has been identified as Daniel Garvin, 46 years old, of Trenton.

The Mercer County Prosecutors Office has identified the victim as Daniel Garvin, 46 years old, of Trenton.

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–Sometime before 9:00 p.m. Trenton Police, Trenton EMS, Captial Health Paramedics and Trenton Fire responded to the 300 Block of Rutherford Avenue near Prospect Street for a shooting. Upon arrival a person was found shot and there reports of CPR being given. The person was transported to Captial Health Regional Medical Center and a trauma alert was called enroute to the hospital. The person was pronounced a short time later.
The Mercer County Homicide Task Force is investigating the shooting.
The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office did confirm a fatal shooting, but other details were not available.
