HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (MERCER)–At a protest on Thursday June 11, 2020 Black Lives Matter protester Tracey D. Syphax made a statement about the Bromley section of Hamilton and a multi alarm fire 5 years ago.

“I am going to mention one more thing about the Bromley Section of the city. We know that structure racism exists, houses burned down in the Bromley Section almost 5 years ago, those houses are still sitting there, that would happen in no other neighborhood in Hamilton but Bromley. That has to change. That’s racism. That’s separation. That’s underclass and we must speak up against that. We have some action items that we are going to demand Hamilton and Mercer County hold to before this is over.” –Black Lives Matter protester Tracey D. Syphax

MidJersey.News remembers the 6-Alarm fire well and checked with the Hamilton Township Mayor’s Office about the status of the burned and abandoned buildings in the Bromley Section on East State Street in Hamilton.

From MidJersey.News and OnSceneNews records this fire was on or about June 9, 2015 (see video below) and took a ride to East State Street where the fire occurred 5 years ago and confirmed that the buildings are still there abandoned. (see photos below)

After reaching out to the Mayor’s office we recieved this reply:

“Since the start of the year, the Township has started the foreclosure process to gain ownership of the homes so that eventually they can be torn down and new homes can be put up in their place. Due to the Governor’s halt on foreclosure actions, this has slowed the process of the Township gaining ownership.” –Hamilton Township Mayor’s Office

Upon the MidJersey.news investigation the buildings were noticed and posted on April 22, 2019 with an “Unsafe Structure Notice” It appears that Hamilton Township is Trying but is held up by Governor Murphy’s COVID-19 restrictions on foreclosures.

The flags were replaced with signage that reads, “Placement of signage or items of any nature on this structure is strictly prohibited.” Many American Flags have been placed on bridges after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States. Many people including veterans, police and other organizations have been maintaining these flags on bridges since the attacks.

We try to express patriotism ourselves every day by maintaining dozens of American flags at properties in our right of way — office buildings, toll plazas, service areas, maintenance facilities, State Police buildings, warehouses. Those flags are treated with the utmost respect by Turnpike Authority personnel. They are flown on suitable staffs. They are illuminated at night. They are lowered to half-staff when the state is in mourning. They are removed, properly destroyed, and promptly replaced when they become faded or worn and are no longer suitable symbols of our national ideals.

The long-standing policy of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority has been to prohibit the display of any flags, signs, or banners by private parties on Turnpike Authority property. While we appreciate the desire of some New Jersey residents to express their patriotism in these turbulent times by displaying flags on Turnpike and Parkway overpasses, Turnpike Authority regulations do not allow it, and for good reason. The Turnpike and Parkway run through more than 100 municipalities and include more than 1,100 bridges and other structures. The NJTA cannot adequately monitor flags mounted by private citizens to make sure they are safely and securely hung, properly displayed, and respectfully maintained. While we hope that everyone who wants to display the American flag finds a suitable location to do so, we believe that limiting the flags displayed on Turnpike Authority property to ones hung and maintained by Turnpike Authority staff is the best way to assure that all flags in the Turnpike and Parkway right of way are treated with the respect they deserve.

November 3, 2020

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (MERCER)–Around 6:24 pm the Hamilton Township Police, Hamilton Township Fire Department, RWJ EMS and Capital Paramedics were dispatched to a accident with reported entrapment. Multiple 9-1-1 calls reported the accident in the 1400 Block of Kuser Road near Perilli Drive.

One person was transported to the Trauma Center at Capital Health Regional Medical Center and a “Trauma Alert” was called.

The roadway was closed for the serious accident investigation.

This is a preliminary report further details from Hamilton Township Police will be released at a later time. Once MidJersey.News receives the details the story will be updated and any corrections made.

TOMS RIVER, NJ (OCEAN)–Ocean County First Assistant Prosecutor Michael T. Nolan, Jr., announced that Christopher Angulo, 46, of Toms River, was charged with making Terroristic Threats During a Declared State of Emergency in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-3a.

On July 22, 2020, Angulo contacted the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and directly made threats that he was going to kill police officers. Angulo had previously made specific threats against members of the Bay Head Borough Police Department in May 2020, and was charged accordingly at that time.

Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit located Angulo at a residence in Toms River on July 22, 2020, and he was taken into custody without incident. Angulo is presently lodged in the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.

The public and press are reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

May 16, 2020 UPDATED AT 7:20 PM to include executive order and additional information provided by the Governor’s Office

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–Governor Murphy is expected to sign an executive order today to allow reopening of fishing charters and other chartered boating serviced, this will also include watercraft rentals. The executive order will take effect May 17, 2020 at 6 am. Once we receive the executive order will will post it here.

Governor Murphy Signs Executive Order to Reopen Charter Fishing and Watercraft Rental Businesses

TRENTON – Governor Phil Murphy today signed Executive Order No. 146, which allows charter fishing services and for-hire vessel activities, as well as watercraft rental businesses, to open with required social distancing measures. These businesses can open on Sunday, May 17 at 6 am.“Reopening charter fishing services and watercraft rental businesses restores an extremely important component of our Shore economy.” said Governor Murphy. “The social distancing measures that we are putting in place will ensure that these businesses can sustain themselves while still adhering to public health guidance.”Charter fishing services and for-hire vessels will be allowed to reopen to the public so long as they adopt policies that include:

• reduced capacity to no more than 10 people on a vessel at any one time;
• electronic or telephone reservation and payment systems;
• no make-up or open boat trips;
• social distancing measures on the vessels and in waiting and boarding areas, including demarcation and signage;
• prohibiting sharing of fishing equipment, bait, and gear;
• limiting the use of nets or gaffs to the crew;
• infection control and hygiene practices;
• providing sanitization materials to passengers and crew;
• frequent sanitization of vessel and high-touch areas;
• The crew and passengers must wear a mask while aboard the vessel;
• prohibiting food and beverage service; and
• briefing all passengers prior to embarking on social distancing, capacity limits, and hygiene requirements.

Watercraft rental businesses will be allowed to reopen so long as they adopt policies consistent with the “curb-side pickup” restrictions that apply to retail establishments pursuant to Executive Order No. 142.

CRANBURY, NJ (MIDDLESEX)–Around 7 am. it appears that a dump truck traveling south bound in the area of mile marker 70.7 hit a NJ State Police vehicle. Photos from the scene show the NJSP vehicle in a ball of metal and the dump truck overturned that was full of dirt.

Expect heavy delays on the NJ Turnpike until this accident is investigated and cleared. Delays south bound will be in the area of Exit 8A Cranbury between Station Road and Cranbury-Half Acre Road. Currently the traffic backup is 3 miles in length traveling south bound all the way to Exit 8A.

Traffic reroute is get off at Exit 8A to Route 130 South to the Route 33 Bypass back onto the NJ Turnpike.

NJ State Police has not released information about the accident yet and they are still on scene investigating at the time of this report.

Luckily there are no life threatening injures in the accident. More to follow.

Responding that we know of were Cranbury Fire Company, Hightstown Engine Company, Cranbury EMS, Robbinsville Fire Department EMS. Possibly others.
