TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–A person was shot in the 100 Block of Turpin Street around 10:15 am. The person was transported to the Trauma Center at Capitol Health Regional Medical Center for treatment.
As usual no real information is available about the shooting.

ROBBINSVILLE, NJ (MERCER)–According to an email shared on the Around Robbinsville Facebook group (see below) there was one confirmed case of COVID-19 and will be switching to virtual learning for the week. High school sports are also suspended for the remainder of the week.
As we have learned in the past with other school districts and their action plans that this is done out of an abundance of caution to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. For further information see e-mail below.
MidJersey.News has emailed the school for comment and a statement, once received the story will be updated.

Dear Parents/Guardians:
This letter is to inform you that today we learned someone associated with the high school was in close contact with someone with a confirmed case of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). Close contact is defined by CDC as someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for a culmination of at least 15 minutes starting from 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic clients, two days prior to positive specimen collection) until the time the patient is isolated.
After consulting the county health department and due to this incident’s circumstances, I am closing the high school and implementing 100% virtual learning for only the high school students, and staff for the remainder of this shorten week and reassess the situation by Friday, November 6. The details around this case also necessitate that our high school sports program be immediately suspended for the remainder of the week out of an abundance of caution. Should contact tracing be warranted, you will be notified by our health department or the Division of Public Health of Mercer County.
We ask that you be on the lookout for the signs and symptoms of COVID-19 in your child. Symptoms can include but are not limited to fever, sore throat, headache, diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, chills, shivers, muscle aches, fatigue, congestion, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, and new loss of smell or taste. Please take cautionary steps since not everyone will get all these symptoms, and please contact the school if you see any signs of infection.
As always, I appreciate our community’s anticipated support and cooperation as we traverse through the particulars of this pandemic. I ask everyone in town to assist our efforts by remaining vigilant, following the guidelines, and acting sensible when dealing with this health concern. The flags were replaced with signage that reads, “Placement of signage or items of any nature on this structure is strictly prohibited.” Many American Flags have been placed on bridges after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States. Many people including veterans, police and other organizations have been maintaining these flags on bridges since the attacks.

We try to express patriotism ourselves every day by maintaining dozens of American flags at properties in our right of way — office buildings, toll plazas, service areas, maintenance facilities, State Police buildings, warehouses. Those flags are treated with the utmost respect by Turnpike Authority personnel. They are flown on suitable staffs. They are illuminated at night. They are lowered to half-staff when the state is in mourning. They are removed, properly destroyed, and promptly replaced when they become faded or worn and are no longer suitable symbols of our national ideals.
The long-standing policy of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority has been to prohibit the display of any flags, signs, or banners by private parties on Turnpike Authority property. While we appreciate the desire of some New Jersey residents to express their patriotism in these turbulent times by displaying flags on Turnpike and Parkway overpasses, Turnpike Authority regulations do not allow it, and for good reason. The Turnpike and Parkway run through more than 100 municipalities and include more than 1,100 bridges and other structures. The NJTA cannot adequately monitor flags mounted by private citizens to make sure they are safely and securely hung, properly displayed, and respectfully maintained. While we hope that everyone who wants to display the American flag finds a suitable location to do so, we believe that limiting the flags displayed on Turnpike Authority property to ones hung and maintained by Turnpike Authority staff is the best way to assure that all flags in the Turnpike and Parkway right of way are treated with the respect they deserve.

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–Trenton Police, Trenton Fire Department, Lawrence EMS, Ewing EMS, Robert Wood Johnson EMS, and Capital Health Paramedics are all on scene in the 700 block of Riverside Avenue for two people stabbed and one person struck by a vehicle. This incident occurred around 1:00 am.

TRENTON, NJ (MERCER)–The New Jersey Forrest Fire Service has been sending equipment and manpower to the west coast to help fight many wildfires. San Francisco Fire Department reports that units from Section B-10 have landed safely at the airport. Three additional engines and ten crew members were sent to California to help.
Section B-10 provides wildland fire suppression for the State of New Jersey covering Middlesex and Monmouth Counties in Central New Jersey primary response areas include: East Brunswick Twp, Englishtown, Freehold Borough, Freehold Twp, Helmetta, Holmdel Twp, Jamesburg, Manalapan Twp, Marlboro Twp, Monroe Twp, Old Bridge Twp, Plainsboro, Sayreville, South Amboy, South Brunswick Twp, South River, Spotswood and surrounding towns as requested.

BELMAR, NJ (MONMOUTH)—After seeing several photos posted online yesterday of massive crowding at the Jersey Shore it seemed that people were all over the place violating Governor Murphy’s “Social Distancing” rules. To an untrained eye it looked as people were on top of each other in large massive crowds. One of the locations was Belmar, New Jersey where a “local” told us that a record of over 3,000 beach badges were sold in a single day. The local also told us that the line was long but most of the day people were obeying social distancing rules. When asked about the photos posted on social media and used in regular news media, they said the photos were incredible.
Looks terrible people are not social distancing? If you think that look below and see how lenses can distort what is actually happening especially if photos are taken from few angles. Not saying that social distancing violations did not happen but some photos posted online seem very suspicious of using a “compression” technique.
Today people were lined up again this morning to purchase beach badges in Belmar. The line was not as long as yesterday but it was a good opportunity to investigate social distancing. Were photographs shared in social media and news media sensationalized, borderline “fake news” using certain photography techniques or were people observing the rules?
For this experiment we will use a Canon 5D Mark IV that has a full frame sensor with lenses in range from 24mm to 600mm in length. I will take photos from an elevated position looking down boardwalk using a wide angle 24mm to a 600mm telephoto lens.
From the street and beach take another set of photos to show the spacing between people on the boardwalk. A “normal” lens of what a typical eye sees, with a full framed sensor is between 35mm and 70mm. A variety of focal lengths will be provided to show lens compression.
24mm slightly wider than a “normal” lens.
70mm is slightly more than a “normal” lens.
135mm and 150mm the average telephoto lens.
At 200mm you can start to see higher effects of using the longer focal length lenses.
A 600mm lens makes people appear standing closer together.

LAKEWOOD, NJ (OCEAN)–The BlueClaws shared the unfortunate news today that the 2020 Minor League Baseball season, and with it the 2020 BlueClaws season, has been cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This is news that we had hoped we wouldn’t have to share, but unfortunately we will not be playing baseball at the Jersey Shore this summer,” said BlueClaws Team President Joe Ricciutti.
This decision was made with the interests of fan, player, coach, and staff safety at the forefront.
“We understand and cherish our place as a much-needed outlet for fun and entertainment across our communities, but we also understand and support the need to prioritize the public health crisis,” said Art Matin, the managing partner of BlueClaws ownership group Shore Town Baseball.
BlueClaws ticket package holders will be contacted by staff members to go over their options. Additionally, BlueClaws ticket staff members will coordinate with group leaders that have booked 2020 outings as well. Those that have tickets as part of a group outing should wait to hear from their group leader directly.
Communication from BlueClaws staff members will begin on Wednesday morning, and the team asks that ticket holders be patient as the BlueClaws work through outreach on an individual basis.
“We thank each of our ticket package holders and group leaders for their patience while we waited for a resolution,” said Ricciutti. “This has been a trying time for us all and we want to make sure that each ticket holder hears directly from the BlueClaws.”
2020 was to be the 20th season in BlueClaws history with much planned to celebrate. The team will shift many of these 20th season promotions into 2021.
“We are already working on making 2021 the biggest and most exciting season in team history,” said Ricciutti. “We’ll just celebrate our 20th season and our 20th anniversary all together!”
Matin added: “The BlueClaws have many amazing fans and partners and we appreciate each and every one of them. We had lots of plans to celebrate our 20th season this year. Our message is simple – we want everyone to stay healthy and we can’t wait to open the gates and welcome people from across the Jersey Shore for some family entertainment and great baseball.”
A 2021 BlueClaws schedule has not yet been released. The team will announce their 2021 schedule, complete with the 2021 Opening Night, when available.
FirstEnergy Park executive offices remain closed to the general public as of today, though staff is working remotely. Please check BlueClaws.com and the team’s social media channels for additional information.
The BlueClaws are the Jersey Shore’s top stop for affordable, family entertainment and have drawn 7.7 million fans to FirstEnergy Park since their 2001 inception.

EWING TOWNSHIP, NJ (MERCER)–Ewing Township Police and Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Serious Crash Investigation Unit are on scene at Lower Ferry and Ashly Roads. Three people were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
Preliminary investigation reveals that one of the vehilce may have crossed the yellow line and struck the opposing vehicle head on, police said.
One drive needed to be extricated by the Ewing Township Fire Department.
Anyone with information regarding the crash can contact Officer Robert Birchenough of the Ewing Police Department’s Traffic Unit 609-882-1313 ext. 5569.
