Message from Robbinsville Township Mayor Dave Fried via Facebook:

Today, the State will be closing all restaurants, movie theaters and fitness centers/gyms.

Restaurants will be take-out only until further notice. Please still consider our local merchants for those services as we need to support them as best we can. Please remember the supply chain is still working quite well. There is no need to hoard food or supplies. Yes, that includes toilet paper. The shortage of toilet paper is due to over-buying, not because the virus has created a specific need.

We will be keeping all of our parks open. Try to get outside while still maintaining responsible social distances. Getting outside and spending time in the sun is a good idea and exercise is important. Stress can negatively impact all of us. The Township will continue to maintain services as best we can for as long as we can. Drop boxes for specific departments have been placed outside the Municipal Building at 2298 Route 33 for your added convenience. Online services and the USPS also are encouraged.

I am asking everyone to check on a neighbor who may be at risk or a member of our elderly population. Please continue to use good hygiene. Wash your hands, maintain safe distances and avoid unnecessary gatherings.

Please let us know if there are any specific needs that you become aware of.

Lastly, do not panic. Yes, we are navigating in uncharted waters right now. But we will get through this by working as a team, keeping or collective heads and by being good neighbors. Our “Robbinsville Bubble” is expanding, but I know we are up to the challenge.

Stay safe and God bless.

April 2, 2020

TRENTON – Governor Phil Murphy today signed Executive Order No. 113, authorizing the New Jersey State Director of Emergency Management to use the Governor’s full authority under the Disaster Control Act to commandeer personal services and/or real or personal property.  This includes medical supplies and equipment from private companies and institutions in order to help meet the continued need for ventilators and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the State in hospitals, health care facilities, and emergency response agencies due to the ongoing outbreak of COVID-19.“We must continue to take action to meet the critical medical needs of our hospitals and medical centers during this pandemic,” said Governor Murphy. “While we look forward to these facilities cooperating in providing this equipment, this order gives the Office of Emergency Management the express authority to protect the public health, safety, and welfare by ensuring that supplies go to where they are most needed.”Executive Order No. 113 authorizes New Jersey State Police Superintendent Colonel Patrick Callahan, the State Director of Emergency Management, to take or use resources from private sources in order to address the continued pressing public health concern presented by COVID-19. This authority shall be exercised in consultation with the Department of Health. The Order also states that compensation for such takings will be provided by the procedures established under the Disaster Control Act.”It is our responsibility to ensure that heath care professionals in dire need of personal protective equipment are our first priority, because they are the heroes on the front lines, providing life-saving care to the sick,” said Colonel Callahan. “We will continue to work cooperatively with our partners at the Department of Health to determine where these critical resources are best allocated.”Executive Order No. 113 builds on direction in Executive Order No. 109—signed on March 23, 2020—mandating that all businesses and non-hospital health care facilities submit an inventory to the State of PPE, ventilators, respirators, and anesthesia machines in their possession. Today’s executive order also builds on direction in Executive Order No. 111—signed on March 28, 2020—requiring health care facilities to report data concerning their capacity and supplies to the State on a daily basis, including data relating to bed capacity, ventilators, and PPE.To read Executive Order No. 113, click here.

Help Protect NJ’s First Responders If You Call 9-1-1 Or Request Services Let Them Know If You Have Flu Like Symptoms Or Have Traveled – MidJersey.News

The International Association Association of Firefighters (IAFF), Professional Firefighters of NJ (PFANJ), New Jersey Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association (NJFMBA), and your local IAFF and FMBA locals ask that if you have had any flue like symptoms, have traveled to any area that you were advised to be under quarantine or under a watch to let the 9-1-1 dispatcher know so firefighters, EMS and police and take protective measures prior to providing services.

There are only so many first responders to go arround and if they get sick it will stress the system as they will be in quarantine and unable to help you for at least 14 days. Lets not have a situation again that happened in Barnegat, New Jersey with COVID-19 contamination. Do the right thing, please let the police, firefighters and EMS know over the phone.

From Barnegat, NJ Police Department,

Earlier today, one of our officers responded to a call for service that required a police response and interacted with a subject who had just flown in from Denmark and was directed by the CDC to be on a 14 day self-quarantine. The person failed to advise our officer that they had just returned from Denmark and were supposed to be quarantined.

Because Denmark has over 800 active cases of COVID-19, and out of an abundance of caution, the officer was immediately placed off-duty and will not return to duty for 14 days. The officer’s patrol car and common areas he occupied within the police department are being professionally sanitized.

It is critically important that members of the public act responsibly in adhering to self-quarantines and being forthcoming with public safety professionals if they have been outside of the country in the last 14 days or directed to self-quarantine. Failing to do so is dangerous to our officers, healthcare workers, and the public at large.

May 18, 2020

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (MERCER)–Mayor Jeff Martin is excited to announce The Great Hamilton Takeout on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 in collaboration with the numerous eateries spread throughout the municipality.

Hamilton Township is home to more than 200 eating establishments, including bakeries, coffee shops, pizzerias, delis and restaurants. As one of the hardest hit industries during the Coronavirus pandemic, The Great Hamilton Takeout campaign was created as a means to help drive additional business to our local restaurants in their time of need.

Many of Hamilton’s restaurants are owned and operated by our fellow Hamiltonians.  They are also known for their generosity – giving back to various sectors of our community over the years and to many frontline workers during the pandemic.  Hamilton Township is encouraging all local eateries to join in on the campaign by spreading the word amongst their customers and potentially even creating their own special menu or food item for the day.

“Hamilton’s restaurants have been an integral part of the fabric of our great town.  They have given back to our community over the years – donating to our sports teams, our schools, non-profits, various other organizations and events,” stated Mayor Jeff Martin.  “Now it is our turn to be there for them.  I ask those who are able, to join me in giving back by ordering takeout, curbside or delivery from one or more of our local food establishments throughout the day.  Together we can show our restaurants and their employees that we are in this together, we are Hamilton Proud!”

Throughout COVID-19 restaurant patrons have turned to takeout, curbside and delivery when their kitchens are in need of a break.  Takeout does not have to be limited to just dinner – it can be breakfast and lunch or even dessert.  On Wednesday, May 27th it is our turn to show our local restaurants that we will be there for them in their time of need, to show them that “Hope Is In Hamilton”.  Residents are encouraged to order take out from one of our many restaurants on May 27th and post their meals on social media with the hashtags #GreatHamiltonTakeOut and #HopeIsInHamilton.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ (MIDDLESEX)–Large town parades may be canceled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic but there are several scaled down events including wreath layings at grave sites and memorials. If you happen to capture a good photo that you would like posted on MidJersey.News later today use the “Contact” link on the top bar and fill out the form and I will send you our email address to forward the photo.

Since we will be celebrating Memorial Day a little different this year due to the COVID-19 we will take a look at some from the past.

May 29, 2000 the events in South Brunswick start at VFW Post 9111, a visit to local cemeteries in town, then to the American Legion and finally a stop at the Municipal Building to lay wreaths at the memorial there.

The late Alfred “Al” Kady from VFW Post 9111 and South Brunswick American Legion rediscovered Civil War Veteran Aaron Hush’s gravesite. During the Memorial Day services on May 29, 2000 the Hush grandchildren and great grandchildren were invited to the site.

“We have a moral obligation to take care of these burial grounds as they are hallowed ground” — Al Kady would read that as part of opening statements each Memorial Day
